In the fourth chain from the hook, make 1 double crochet. Then work 1 double crochet in each of the next 2 chain stitches.

To make the first group of petals, do the following: *Skip 2 chain stitches and work 1 double crochet in each of the next 3 chain stitches. Then work the three double crochet stitches together making a triple crochet stitch (needle loop, insert hook in stitch, loop again and pull hook through first two stitches on hook, loop again and pull hook through next two stitches) stitches on hook, loop again and pull hook through all stitches on hook).
